SABDEN biker Alistair Haworth has accelerated a t quite a pace in the world of motorsport. The road racer (pictured) has

taken the grid by storm this sea son. He heads the Formula 400

and the 500 open in the Preston and District Motorcycle Cham pionship, and is now set to com pete in national and internation al events next month. His first test is the Oliver’s

Mount circuit in Scarborough this weekend, where he \vill be competing on both a Yamaha' FZR 400, and a classic pre-1972 Moto Guzzi TS250. He then travels to the Inter

national Classic Grand Prix at Chimay in Belgium on July 15th, where he will again ride his Moto Guzzi TS250. His season has also been

boosted by the fact that the Ron Haslam Race School has taken him on as an instructor a t Bon ington Park, where they race

,'bikes. In the Preston Championship,

a t the Three Sisters track in Wigan and Ty-Croes in Angle sey, he has won all four of the 400cc meets and finished first, second, third and fourth to lead the 500cc series, both of which are contested over 16 races. And at a non-championship

round at Tonfanau with Crewe and Nantvich Motorcycle Club, he enjoyed another three ■victo ries. Alistair would like to thank

sponsors Frank and Scott Wind sor at Brookside Garage, Sab- den, Andelle Motor Leathers in Horwich, Scomoto Racing, Adlington, and Tritech Motor cycle Panel Repairs and Screen and Design, both of Lostock Hall, Preston. The motorbike racer is a self
