THERE was a mild start to the month of February, with average tem peratures and a very wet day on the 11th, which was also a warm day. This was followed by bitter norther

ly winds for the second half of the month when temperatures rarely made it to 40F degrees. Frosty nights from the 18th to the

end of the month, with snow on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd, gave a taste of Arctic conditions. Rainfall, including melting snow,

was well below average for February, with only 3.596 inches (89.9 mm) being recorded. Date Max F Min P Rain 1 2

Round Table cash goes out to victims

by Duncan Smith

LIKE so many organisations, Clitheroe Round Table has done its bit to help the victims of the

Boxing Day tsunami disaster. In the wake of the disaster, Adri

an Gibbons, president of Round Table Britain and Ireland, asked each Round Table to contribute £100 to the cause, either from club funds or a special event. With approximately 1,000 Round Tables in Britain and Ireland, this would raise £100,000. Clitheroe answered the call and,

like many others, exceeded the £100 target, actually raising £300 for the appeal. So far the national Round Table

total stands at £203,000, with more donations arriving daily. All money is being split equally
