\vife, Edith (Sue Cronshaw - along with bread rolls as

' curlers). They struggle to keep

for themselves a priceless portrait stolen by the Ger mans, and kept in a sausage (or sissage, as the bungling English Police man would say) in their cellar. Rene is also hiding two

British airmen at the same time, a perfect cameo part for two lazy students, Owen Phillips and Jo Shipman! C o m m u n i c a t io n s

through to London in order to repatriate the air men are made through a radio disguised as a cocka too, and this only adds to the many embarrassments caused by a whole cast of

characters. Matters come to a head with the news that the Fuhrer is to visit the town, and the cafe becomes filled with Hitler impersonators - four in total - not including the, blow-up Hitler who is left without his trousers! I t ’s always great to have

such a big cast, because of the fantastic atmosphere it creates. I t ’s especially good to have a broad range of experience on stage. We had the pleasure of

new s ta r te r s , M a rk ' Goossens and Michael Harrison, we had return ing member, John Royle, and the more mature, experienced, weathered members taking on the pivotal roles! Special mention should

be made of the “props ladies” Sara Collinge and Alison Goossens who lov ingly cut up sausage night after night and made sure that every little detail was taken care of - even down to th e playing cards emblazoned with swastikas. John and Alex displayed

their usual high quality workmanship with the set, and Craig and Kevan transformed each comer of the stage with varied lighting and sound.
