after not being awarded a penalty comer, ran almost the length of the pitch to score and put the game beyond the visitors. Clitheroe still had plen

ty of time for more attacks, and once again Griffiths and 'Walmsley teamed up to get Clitheroe's fourth and Walmsley's third. Longridge managed to

get a consolation goal in the last few minutes. Clitheroe would like to

thank Mortimers Estate Agents for sponsoring the match ball. The club would also like

to take this opportunity to thank the Rose and Crown, Clitheroe, for their generosity in sponsoring the club’s new home strip.

Clitheroe slump to foot of table

CLITHEROE B dropped to the bottom of the Blackburn and District Badminton League First Division after facing fellow strugglers YMCA B. While the locals took five of the mixed doubles in

what proved to be close games, the level doubles turned out to be a different matter as Clitheroe were unable to exert enough pressure and lost 10-6 as a result.

Meanwhile, second-placed Brockhall also suffered

defeat in a 12-4 scoreline to league leaders YMCA A. And Clitheroe A were also on the wrong side of

their result with Westholme by the same 12-4 score line. In the Third Division, Salesbury, who must be con

sidered promotion hopefuls, were stopped in their tracks as they lost 10-6 to Clitheroe C. Players wishing to enter the various handicap tour

naments later in the month are reminded that they must hand in their application by this coming Satur day. No late entries or telephone enquiries will be

allowed. '. Darts and Dominoes
