safety so, logically, if motorists cannot see them safety must be being compromised. Many motoring laws, including speed limits, are rendered unenforceable if signs are obscured - with drivers who break the law being handed a ready-made excuse on a plate. Highway maintenance is an important
issue for a number of reasons and it is some thing that the government is being urged to look at.
Meanwhile, the AA is encouraging drivers
to report any obscured signs that they come across to their local council, while advising them to consider claiming against the high way authority if they have an accident, or commit a motoring offence, because they were unable to read a road sign.

Heady stuff - Sagaris is surely on the right track
by Andy Enright E
x a c t ly how wild do you like your TVRs? Remember we are dealing with degrees of extremity here.
The starting point on the TVR
ladder - the Chimaera - is already teetering at the far scale of, say, the Porsche sanity scale. Opt instead for the Sagaris and you will be landing an Anti Social Behaviour Order on wheels. It is heady stuff. The Sagaris is a development of
the T350, a car that has already been inspired by the requirements of motorsport. Named after a Greek word for “war axe”, the Sagaris looks as if it has been given a few whacks. The front splitter and rear diffuser would be signature styling features on most sports cars but it is the Sagaris’ bodywork that draws most attention. It is cleaved with a number of cooling ducts, gills and vents that TVR claims are fully functional, venting high-pressure air and keeping the car stuck to tarmac. The Sagaris marks a new develop
ment for TVR. Rather than modify ing existing road cars for racing use, this is a car that has been developed with one eye on the track right from the outset. TVR stresses that the Sagaris is not a racing car for the road, but that racing versions will inevitably spawn from its develop ment. Aside from the cooling ducts,

campaigned in various GT racing categories. In order to limit the amount of modifications necessary for racing, TVR has beefed up the T350 chassis, endowing the Sagaris with an even more purposeful stance than the solidly planted T350. The Sagaris features a wider track
than the T350 for grip and stability and is propelled by the 400 b.h.p., straight-six engine from the Tuscan

S, with which it shares a price of £49,995. Although definitive perfor mance figures have yet to be pub lished, TVR projects a top speed of around 195 m.p.h. and 0-60 in under 4.0 seconds. While the top end figure may
seem optimistic, there is little doubt that the flyweight TVR’s accelera tion from a standing start will be nothing less than concussive.
