A path of pennies and sale of tasty buns boost Children In Need appeal
CHILDREN a t Gisburn Primary School had a tremendous time last week raising the grand total of £442.12 in just two days for Children In Need. On Thursday the children from Class Three sold
978 buns to fellow pupils who had arrived a t school with empty boxes ready to be filled with delicious treats. The next day saw the whole school busily laying
a trail of pennies around the playground. , When every coin was laid end to end and mea
sured, the trail stretched for 396.24 metres and had raised the total of £198.12. This meant th a t in just two days the children
had raised almost £450 for Children In Need. Mrs Stephanie Dugdale, Class Three teacher,

R. G. Barker Died after fall
A FALL from a bus led to the death of a Rib ble Valley woman on Friday afternoon. Mrs Elizabeth Earl, who was 77 and lived
a t Townley House, Longridge, was about to descend from the bus, which had stopped on Berry Lane, in the town. Witnesses said she appeared to fall from the
top step, striking her head on the pavement. She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital,
but died soon after arrival. The incident has been referred to the coro

Climbers look back over year
AT Clitheroe mountaineering dubh annual meeting last Thursday the retiring chairman, Mr Nick Mill- ward, reported th at the long, dry summer had resulted in a successful year with a new membership of more than 50 people, which includes some new young members. Weekend visits to various mountineering club
