THE funeral of Mrs Betsy Maud Preston was held at Whalley Parish Church on Tuesday. She was well-known in the village, where


she helped her husband in his pharmacy for more than 30 years. Mrs Preston (pictured) was one of the


Goldsmith family of seven, who lived at Ivy,' Cottage, in,Pendleton, many of them working at Standen Hall. She met her husband, Arthur, at St Luke’s Mission, Barrow, where he played the organ. Following their marriage at Whalley Parish Church, the couple lived in the village. A widow for the past 30 years, Mrs Preston

INQUIRIES are continuing following two recent vandalism attacks on telephone boxes in Clitheroe. In the early hours of Friday


morning, one glass panel of a telephone box on Victoria

Inquest


is opened AN inquest has -been opened into the death of well-known Clitheroe man Mr Edmond Cambien. The body of the 82-year-


old was found by a police recovery team in Primrose Lodge two days after he went missing. Mr Cambien, of Bolland


Prospect, was said to have been suffering from depres­ sion before he went missing from home on November 10th. The inquest was opened


for the purposes of identifi­ cation then adjourned until February 11th, 2004.
