Many runners suffered in the heat on the long'climb up to Beatrix Fell, only to be faced with a gru elling tough descent across rough heather and forest tracks. The race attracted a strong field

with Shaun just holding off Thomas Comthwaite (Blackburn Harriers) for most of the first half. Eventually Shaun opened up almost a minute’s lead on Thomas to win the race and set the first male record for the race. Vanessa Peacock was the first woman despite an injury to her ankle. The race required a huge num

ber of marshals for what is a rela tively small club with almost half of Bowland F.elllrunners turning out to help. The whole event was a tremen

dous team effort. The club expressed its thanks to all those who made the race such a success. Next year the show returns to

Dunsop Bridge with the classic short and sharp route up Mellor Knoll and Totridge Fell. The day's festivities drew to a

close with a disco in Newton Vil lage Hall.

Langho for over a quarter of a century; its brand of “Lifestyle Management” encom passes everything that people need out side their work-lives so that they can truly enjoy their free time. With people working long hours, their

free time is precious and they want to take full advantage of it rather than ring ing round to find services from somebody they do not know or doing the jobs them selves. evanSent wants to help people by providing staff and sub-contractors that have been fully reference checked, or more likely have undertaken work for one or more members of the family over the past 25 years. Over time the Evans family has filtered

through and found reliable, trustworthy sub-contractors whom the company has used repeatedly and who have consis tently arrived at the agreed time, doing a fantastic job. evanSent passes this expe- rience on to you by sending the right sub-contractor or staff member to com plete your work. All staff wear a logo'd uniform, with all staff and contractors carrying ID cards encouraging cus tomers to check back with the office if in any doubt of the identity of the individ ual.

The challenge has been set for

evanSent: “If we can, we will”. Clitheroe Royal Grammar School-

educated brother and sister Jan and Michele are the driving force of evanSent. Both have a sound commer cial and customer service background. Jan went to Salford University and

worked for Cable & Wireless before serv ing at sea on board luxury cruise ships within the Pursers and Financial Department. On return to the Ribble Valley he was front-of-house manager in

a local country hotel. Michele went to John Moores University to gain her RGN qualification, nursing at Southampton General to senior level. She also served at sea as nursing officer, returning to the Ribble Valley working as a pharmaceutical sales rep. They served on the same ship for a time and worked very well together. Richard and Angela, both recently

retired after 30 years running a major communications company, add invalu able experience to evanSent. Richard continues to provide state-of- the-art communications solutions to business customers, including two-way radio and vehicle tracking in conjunction with the
