And they wore fancy dress too
DRESSING up for coffee was the theme for a charity event at the Spar shop in Whalley. Staff led by manager Joanne
Gillespie (as Tweedledee) and ass istant manager Amanda Price ( Tweedledum), donned fancy dress for The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. As well as serving up coffee

and home-made biscuits and cakes a t the George Street shop, the staff ran a tombola and held a raffle, with a variety of prizes on offer. These includ ed a DVD player, a weekend break in Scotland and a local tour in a pink Cadillac. The official Macmillan teddy bear was also raffled. The event raised £1,010.72,
which delighted the staff, as it was up on the amount raised a t . last year’s coffee morning. Our picture shows “cowboy”

COFFEE and tea rather than pud dings were "on the menu" a t a Clitheroe business to raise money for charity. The Farmhouse Fare coffee
morning in aid of Macmillan Can cer Relief was attended by between 60 and 70 people. The event, which included the
raffle of a hamper, was planned to coincide with the firm’s firs t anniversary in its new premises at Salthill. Run as part of Macmillan’s The
World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, some £350 was raised and the lucky winner of the hamper was Mrs J. Wrigley, of Clitheroe. Mrs Dorothy Falshawe, of
Farmhouse Fare, said: “We were delighted with the response.” Our picture shows Sandra Lake
land and Janette Pate serving tea and coffee to (from the left) Sheila Haworth, Dorothy Britcliffe and Jennifer Hartley. (B260903/2)
