CLITHEROE Ladies Hockey team’s slow start to the new sea son continued with a 7-4 defeat against Blackburn Thirds.. ... ,; . The locals started strongly, and within five minutes took the lead through a cracking solo run by Ruth Talbot.
Blackburn fought back and
scored two quick successive goals, before Clitheroe regrouped to bounce back with some good midfield play from Nicola Kitch- ing, Helen Hutchinson and Jenny Laycock, and Talbot sliped home her second goal of the game. .
The match continued at a sim
ilar pace with bo th teams equally matched, but Blackburn man aged to score again from a penal ty corner. A clean hit out by Hutchinson
saw Pauline Moorby struck a low hard shot to beat the keeper.
However, Blackburn sneaked
