Bid to give disabled access to meetings

DISABLED access to Clitheroe Town Hall is

being re-assessed. In a project designed to ensure that all Clitheroe

residents have equality of access and therefore the same opportunity to take part in the public partici pation sessions, which start all council meetings, experts from Ribble Valley Borough Council and dis abled support group Rib ble Valley Access have been called in to make a

report. Their findings are to be

presented to town council

lors, who will decide on any improvements to be under

taken. The town hall currently

has a temporary wheelchair ramp for its front door step and a reception bell, which can be rung to summon staff if the stairs to the office and council chamber are too difficult for the visi tor to climb. Anyone need ing the ramp must first tele- phone the town hall on 01200 424722 to make arrangements for its instal

lation.
