AN exhibition of wood carving at Clitheroe Library should attract a lot

of interest. Lancashire and Cheshire Wood-

carvers' Society was formed in 1992 to promote interest in woodcarving and to allow its members to share a common enthusiasm and improve

their carving skills. There are currently about 25 mem

bers across the two counties and meetings are held on the third Satur day of each month at St Andrew's United Reformed Church Hall,

Lenny Henry. Guild Hall, Preston. Saturday.

Henry, takes in the delights of Preston as part of his biggest ever stand-up tour.

DUDLEY'S favourite son, Lenny "LiCnny Henry Large!" is about loads of

laughs as Lenny lets loose his licentious perceptions on life, lust, lingerie, libido and other leading "L" words. It is also about travelling up the Amazon and his lament about reaching 40. Since his last live UK stand-up tour m

1996, Lenny has devised variety of new characters. This time around he'll be treating audiences to the likes of Bunny Manhattan Junior, the Las Vegas Lounge King, and Trevor Nettleford, the man with the inquiring mind. Over the last decade, Lenny Henry has

risen from being a cult star on childrens television to being one of black-centred

comedy and characters. His first big break came after appear

ing on the talent show "New Faces” and soon became a regular contributor to the

anarchic Saturday morning kids show "Tiswas". Lenny went on to star with Tracy Ullman and David Copperfield in "Three of a Kind", followed by the suc cessful "Lenny Henry Show". After a cou ple of movie project^ Lenny returned to our television screens with "Chef!" and, more recently, the Saturday night come dy show "Lenny Goes to Town". "Lenny Henry Large!" is a brand new

show for the UK. For more details and ticket information contact the box office on 01772 258858.
