End of an era as governors’ chairman retires, but school presents its top ‘freedom’ honour
IT was the end of an extremely important era when the chair man of CRGS gover nors retired. . Former industrialist Mr James B. Parker MBE, JP, had held the post for 14 years, and was a governor for
two years before that. Although he has now
retired from the board, Mr Parker remains chair man of the CRGS Foun dation. There have been
amalgamation of the boys’ and girls1 grammar schools, a testing time for everyone. The governors had to over see not just the academic and staffing aspects, but also the large amount of building work which had to be done on both sites. In the time since, the
"new" school has carved a place near the top of the national listings. Mr Parker applied to
numerous im por tant steps forward during Mr Parker's time at the helm. Now he has received the highest honour CRGS can bestow. Freedom of the School, in recognition of his outstanding contri bution to its life. The major one was the
