Work restarts on empty village shop
WORK has finally restarted on a dis used Sabden shop after it was left in a "dangerous" s ta te
for months. Residents living
near the shop at the corner of Watt Street and Pendle Street West have been com plaining for months about allegedly pre carious masonry and scaffolding which they fear is a danger to
pedestrians. Although work started
on the shop, which is being converted into two houses by Darwen-based firm, Troy County Ltd, around three months ago - builders have rarely
been seen at the site. Lancashire County
Council's Assistant Area Surveyor, Mr Peter Finch, said until last Wednesday the firm did not have a licence to erect scaffolding on a public highway which costs £13 per week. Sabden Parish Council contacted Troy County
