She told the story of Miss Joynt, who was living with her nephew, Dr Chavas- sey, in Barrowford, when Miss Chew met her in 1946.Miss Joynt had been a missionary in China before the First World War and this was the story of her experiences on an horren­ dous journey, taken in 1915, f rom China to England by train, travel­ ling through Russia and Siberia.Thanks were expressed
