HAVING moved to Clitheroe from their Stafford shire public house and home, John and Caroline have already built up a fine reputation as licens ees within Sabre Taverns.

Sabre leases pubs and hotels nationwide and

managers benefit on performance from their efforts and commitment, which are monitored on a quarterly basis throughout the year by the com pany’s experienced office support team. When John and Caroline took over the Starkie

Arms ten weeks ago, they felt that the Clitheroe pub needed a boost. They set to work and now it stands proudly at the top of the Sabre Taverns league — being rewarded for large increases in turnover and for the overall atmosphere they have

cated efforts to re-establish the Starkie Arms Hotel as the place to be for the people of Clitheroe.

The couple are on the look-out for pool and darts players to represent the pub in both the Clitheroe

and District Winter Pool League and the equiva lent darts league. A brand new pool table h:ts just been installed

and a pool knockout competition, open to mem bers of the public, is being held on September 5th, with a cash prize for the winner.

_ An in-house quiz league will soon be starting on Sunday nights, offering a major cash or holiday prize for the winner.
