AS if Aston Martin’s shatteringly quick Virage was not fast enough, the Newport Pagnall company has announced a performance conversion package for the ardent speed freak.

The new conversion kit boosts

power output by 60%, raising the top speed from 155 mph to 175 and reduc ing the 0-60 time to just 5.5 seconds.

Engine capacity is increased by a

litre to 6.3 litres, bhp goes fro™ ^10 to 500 and to harness all those extra horses, Aston Martin insists on a host

of modifications to the b™k e s t bodywork, suspension, wheels and

tyres.; The conversion can be undertaken unaercaKe

only by Aston Martin engineers at the factory and will mean the car is off the road for up to 12 weeks.

The kit includes fitting of new ven

tilated front wheel disc brakes — the largest ever fitted to any production car — and before the car is returned to its owner, it is subject to a rigorous testing programme at the Millbrook Proving Ground, close to Aston Mar

tin HQ. But to put your Virage or Volante

in for this intensive body-building course will cost more than the average service — more than the average car for that matter — a snip at just £60,000.

rtlJus^ W U| s p e c ta c u la r THE biggest collection of

classic cars ever seen under one roof in the North of England will come together at the end of this month when the 12th Northern Classic Car Show comes to Manches

30th, there will be a classic car auction, when more than 801ots will come under the hammer, rang ing from basic restoration “h eap s” to exp en s iv e dream cars.

Last year, more than

24,000 people attended the show, and it’s anticipated that even more people will visit the event this year.

The exhibition is open
