COURSE CONTENT Presentation of financial statements and accounts of partnerships and limited
companies. Analysis and interpretation of business results including use of ratios. Practical exercises. PROGRESSION
Employment in accountancy. Appreciation of business/management results. Ladder to career in accounting. Provision of sound base for entry into higher level combined courses in accountancy/business studies.

FRENCH YEAR 1
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS No previous knowledge of French required.
COURSE CONTENT
Students will learn to communicate in French in a variety of overday situations, e.g. finding the way, food and drink, shopping, travel, money, dates, time etc. Students will learn to understand signs, instructions, menues'. etc. Emphasis will be on speaking, listening and reading, writing activities used to reinforce other skills. Students will use a coursebook in conjunction with flashcards, cassette tapes and worksheets.
PROGRESSION
Students will be prepared for Graded Tests I and II and could progress to RSA.

COURSE CONTENT
Basic phrases as would be needed on holiday practised by repitition, question and answer and written work, one or two games, listening tasks etc. Cour- sobook can be bought from the Tutor approx. C6. More information at enrol ment. Usual writing material required.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Levels 1 and 2 Graded Tests. Perhaps an 'O' Level of some years previous,
which needs 'brushing up'. A fairly wide vocabulary on various topics. At least one years previous study of French or French conversation
COURSE CONTENT A large part of the course is orally based. Not many formal notes need to be made. There is a high content of listening work, using tapes, visual aids written exercises. Some grammar point will be essential, although commun-' cahon is the main objective. The topicos learned will be personal information, finding the way, catc-rcstaurant, shopping, public services, securing accom modation, illness, leisure, living with a French-speaking family, schools and occupations, meeting people, talking about the British.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT None, this course is for complete beginners.
COURSE CONTENT This course is for students who want to get by while on holiday or on business trips. The emphasis is on the spoken work, with plenty of opportunity to hear, see and read authentic German. The couse will lead to Graded Tests Level I and II. Please bring notepad and pen/pencil. The coursebook is DEUTSCH- DIREKT.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT 2-3 years at an Adult Education Cntre or if the coursebooks "KONTAKE" or "DEUTSCH DIRECKT" have been used, or it the student is able to get by in simple situations.
COURSE CONTENT "KONTAKTE" 2 and 3 will be used at Whalley. Students will learn to get by in more difficult situations while on holiday or on business. The learning process will be aided through the communicative approach. There will bo a lot of role play, group work, listeing comprehension, videos and authentic written material. The course will lead to Graded Test III.
