------------------ T h e Band o f th e L a n c a s h ire C o n s ta b u la ry
The Band was formed in 1938 as a Military Band and changed its formal to that of Brass in 1964 and it has continued as such. The Band, which comprises of 12 serving Police Officers, 14 Special Constables and three Civilians, is part of the Community Affairs department of the Lancashire Constabulary. Performances are also carried outside of the Force area and over the last two years the Band has successfully completed tours of Holland and Germany. The Band is very active in the contesting field of the Brass Band world and is currently 1989 North West Area Champions, previously holding the title also in 1969, 1977 and 1978. At present time the Band is fortunate to have as its Musical Director, Mr Sandy Blair. Sandy is an ex-player with the Black Dyke Mills Band, Brighouse and Rastrick Band and was previously the Musical Director of the famous Besses O’ TIY Barn Band.
