Rev. Edgar Smithies, was also a much respected Clitheronian. In addition to being Rector at Bolton- by-Bowland, he served at churches in Gardale, Rathmell and, finally Blackburn. Mrs Smithies is sur
vived by three brothers and a sister. The funeral was on
Tuesday at St Silas’s Church, Blackburn, where Mrs Smithies had wor shipped in recent years, It .was conducted by the vicar, the Rev. T. J. F. Heighway. Cremation was at Pleasington.
