Rev. Edgar Smithies, was also a much respected Clitheronian. In addition to being Rector at Bolton- by-Bowland, he served at churches in Gardale, Rathmell and, finally Blackburn. Mrs Smithies is sur­


vived by three brothers and a sister. The funeral was on


Tuesday at St Silas’s Church, Blackburn, where Mrs Smithies had wor­ shipped in recent years, It .was conducted by the vicar, the Rev. T. J. F. Heighway. Cremation was at Pleasington.
