THE NORTH WESTERN ELECTRICITY BOARD

Glass and Glazing ' • •

Norweb has set new tariffs for the supply o f electricity. The tariffs apply from the first meter reading date following 31 March 1980, where the meter is normally read at quarterly intervals and from the meter reading date on or nearest to 31 March 1980, where the meter is normally read at monthly intervals. For any consumer connected after 31 March 1980, the new tariffs apply from the date o f connection. Full details o f the tariffs are available on application, to any of the Board's offices or shops or by post from the Secretary, The North Western Electr icity Board, Cheetwood Road,

Manchester M8 8 BA . .. ■

The tariff increases average 16% fo r quarterly tariffs and 5% (plus fuel cost adjust ment) for industrial and commercial monthly tariffs. RENT REBATE — RATE REBATE - RENT ALLOWANCES 1980/81

DO YOU LIVE IN A COUNCIL HOUSE? ARE YOU AN OWNER OCCUPIER?

ARE YOU A TENANT OF PRIVATELY OWNED PROPERTY?

You may qualify income

for a rebate or an allowance if your gross ne is as follows— £31.05 for a single person (without dependent children).

£45.55 for a man and wife (or for individual persons with one or more dependent children) plus £7.70 for each dependent child. You may be entitled to a reduced rebate it your gross income is higher than these figures.

If you or your wife is registered as a handicapped person under Section 29 of the National Assistance Act, 1948, the needs allowance will be higher.

The rebate or allowance granted is based on the estimated income tor the rebate period, but income from employment is calculated by reference to the income actually earned during the most recent five week period (or two monthly period tor monthly paid persons). The council may, however, assess earnings over another period if it seems that this will give a more accurate assessment of income during the rebate period. Applicants should be aware that rebate/allowance entitlement

may be reduced it the application lorm is not returned by April 30th, 1980.

An application form, explanatory leaflet and earnings certificate can be obtained from the Borough Treasurer (Assessment Section), Ribble Valley Borough Council, Mytton House, Church Street, Clitheroe BB7 2DE.

If you are in receipt of Supplementary Benefit do not apply to the Council for either a rebate of rent or rates or rent allowance as the Department of Health and Social Security will now include an amount in your benefit to cover these payments. Should you consider that the Supplementary Benefit which you will receive does not make up tor your former rent rebate or allowance, please contact the local office of the Department of Health and Social Security.

G. D. ONSLOW, Borough Treasurer.
