THE NHS HOSPITAL FOOD REVIEW WHERE ARE WE NOW?
Under the heading, ‘The Future of Hospital Kitchens #2’, this was the second Rational seminar to deep dive into the Hospital Food Review, the first one having taken place six months ago.
Colin Parry, Director of Rational and a member of the seminar panel, said, “The seminar supported the industry by offering hospital caterers a forum where they can continue the Review conversation. Not only did attendees find out what the experts are thinking, but also heard what leading exponents are doing to fulfil the aims of the Review.”
Rational’s latest free online hospital catering seminar considered how the landscape has changed since the launch of the NHS Hospital Food Review. The panel of experts, included Philip Shelley, Chair of the Review, and covered a wide range of topics, looking at the latest ideas and strategies to promote best practice.
On the panel alongside Phillip Shelley and Colin Parry were Naomi Campbell RGN, an independent hydration care nurse consultant; Tim Radcliffe, Facilities Manager at East Lancashire Hospital; Mike Ridder of Dragon Consultancy; and Nick Vadis, Culinary Director at Compass Group. Together the gave a “six months on” progress report and covered key topics as diverse as staffing, hydration and food to go.

Arc Inspirations Officially Opens Its First Bar in Birmingham
Premium bar operator Arc Inspirations has officially opened its first ever site in the Midlands with Manahatta, Birmingham.
Mid-October saw the opening of Manahatta Birmingham, located on Temple Street. The New York-themed bar delivers the flavour of the Upper East Side at any time of the day or week. To celebrate the latest addition, the ‘Instagrammable’ venue hosted a series of soft launches from the 12th October, before officially opening its doors to the public on the 15th October.

Manahatta, Birmingham is the seventh site for the brand, whose current locations include Leeds, Manchester, York and Harrogate. The company is also gearing up for the introduction of BOX to Deansgate in November.
