A SENSORY SHOW FOR AUDIENCES WITH PROFOUND / MULTIPLE LEARNING DISABILITIES


The Courtyard Hereford is pleased to welcome the return of Frozen Light Theatre with their latest show, The Bar at The Edge of Time. This accessible show, where gig theatre meets sensory spectacle, is a unique production specifically designed for adult audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).


The Bar at The Edge of Time invites audiences into a captivating world where glasses are polished, lights are low, and time comes to life. Meet the bar's maestro mixologists, crooners, and hosts. However, a mystery lies at the heart of this place, concealed even from its inhabitants. The solution can only be found when time is spent together, in this extraordinary setting.


A GREAT SPIRIT-LIFTER FOR A JANUARY AFTERNOON


Far Flung delight audiences with a mix of virtuosity and playfulness, tradition and innovation. In January 2020 they released an album Live at the Large Room, available on Spotify and YouTube.


Katherine Hunka was made a fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London. She went on to become the leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and has held this position since 2002. She regularly directs from the leader’s chair and in 2020 directed a solo album of Schubert and Piazzolla which received five stars in the BBC music magazine.


Dermot Dunne has pioneered his instrument in Ireland and has premiered 40 works written for the accordion. He is a regular at Irish and international concert halls and festivals. Performance highlights include the BBC Last Night of the Proms from Belfast Opera House, and chamber music with violinist Pekka Kuusisto and cellist Natalie Klein.


Malachy Robinson is a prize-winning graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music and holds a Masters degree in Historical Musicology from the University of London. He is principal double bass with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. Malachy is active as a composer of music and singer of songs, and as a player of banjo and viola da gamba.

Frozen Light, the acclaimed theatre company behind The Bar at The Edge of Time, specializes in creating multi-sensory theatre experiences for adult audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Since their establishment in 2013, Frozen Light has produced eight shows that have toured to over 70different venues across the UK. Their unique approach to theatre allows audiences to touch, smell, and engages with the performance in intimate one-to-one interactions or as a collective group


The Bar at The Edge of Time is not only a performance but also an invitation to enter a safe space where risks can be taken, and audiences can be transported to sensory worlds filled with awe and wonder. Frozen Light tours to theatres, arts centres, festivals, and curated outdoor spaces, spreading joy and partnering with venues to welcome audiences who may not have been able to attend before.
