Louise Hewett, founder of Hewett Recruitment was thrilled to win the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Recruitment & Employment Confederation’s recent awards ceremony.
The REC Awards celebrate the best in UK recruitment, showcasing the work of brilliant recruiters from across the industry from agency to in-house and from start-ups to multinationals.
Neil Carberry, chief executive of the REC, commented on Louise’s win: “The award is so richly deserved. A genuine working lifetime of making a difference in her business and in her community.”
Speaking at the ceremony Louise said: “I would like to thank everyone for all the messages of congratulations and lovely words spoken, it means so much to receive this national recognition from the industry I’ve loved for a lifetime.’’
Louise, has recently retired after 41 years in business, following a management buy-out with new owners and directors, Ben Mannion and Laura Hewett. Louise continues to work hard in her new role as Deputy Lieutenant to the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire, who is the Queen’s representative for the county.
The past year has been a true test of the recruitment industry’s agility and resolve, and this year’s awards particularly recognised the

contributions of businesses and individuals who went above and beyond to keep the country moving during the pandemic.
In all, 47 individual and 42 company entries were shortlisted across 15 categories and the winners were announced at the REC Awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
Neil Carberry added: “Over the past two years recruiters have helped to keep the country moving through one of the biggest economic shocks in living memory. These awards celebrate their efforts and success, and every individual and company shortlisted is a great asset to this industry that supports millions of people in the UK every day. Well done to all those who were shortlisted, and a special congratulations to the winners!”
