Mindful that very few rooms can make practical use of a panel design, Osborne & Little have only included 1 offering in this collection. It is, in fact, an addition of 2 new colourways, printed on metallic silver and gold backgrounds, to their widely favoured Trailing Orchid design. It’s clever, in that orchids trail down from on high, while exotically plumed humming birds dart beneath, meaning it accentuates mainly the top part of the wall, while leaving the bottom part to be covered by furniture if required. The Trailing Orchid design has also been added to the fabric collection as a rich and sumptuous printed velvet.

There are 2 more fabric books in this year’s spring launch – Taranto and Serenissima. Designed for contemporary interiors, the Taranto collection presents wide-width draperies and sheers, showcasing innovative weave constructions in understated patterns, as well as featuring space-dyed and twisted bouclé yarns with subtle metallic touches. The collection’s palette of soft neutrals and natural hues – ivory, cream, ecru, and linen – creates a wonderful sense of calm.

Serenissima, which I have to admit is much more up my street, is inspired by the grandeur of Venetian palazzos. The collection features luxurious velvets with vibrant stripes and bold geometric patterns. Using cut and uncut velvet techniques, the designs offer a dynamic mix of texture and visual depth, combining clean lines with the elegance of velvet to create a modern yet opulent aesthetic.

Ananda is a captivating collection of decorative prints, intricate embroidery, and rich tapestry. The designs reflect the serenity and beauty of inspiring places around the world, drawing inspiration from tranquil and uplifting environments, evoking a sense of happiness and well-being – and goodness knows, we could all do with some of that right now !!!

Sundara, meaning Beautiful in Sanskrit, is an exquisitely crisp print on a cotton back-cloth, drawing inspiration from North Africa and The Mediterranean. It incorporates elements of Greek pottery, delicate flora, birds and cheetahs, with an ogee-shaped frame running throughout the design.

Continuing the animal theme, Salento (named after a small town in Colombia’s coffee region) features colourful palm trees, toucans, sloths and deer, capturing the charm and exotic wildlife of Central and South America. Printed on a 100% linen back-cloth, it has a more laid back feel than Sundara.

For me, however, the crowning glory of the collection is Vana. It is an intricately embroidered fabric, echoing the tranquillity of a European forest, featuring pine trees and evergreens. Think of the glorious Sutton Park in summer, and you won’t be far off. As a clever addendum, Vana has also been reinterpreted as a luscious semi-sheer, available in ivory on a linen mix base cloth.

As you would expect, the Ananda wallpaper collection mirrors many of the designs from the fabric book, some with even more impact than their fabric cousins. Monteverdi and Salento are superbly drawn, showing, perhaps, a little more detail in the wallpaper than the fabric. The sharpness and boldness of Cyana is truly a thing of beauty.

The lead design, Cornaro, is a playful stripe, featuring ikat patterns in cut and uncut velvet, in 4 absolutely gorgeous colourways. Dario is a cut velvet featuring asymmetric vertical stripes, creating a bold, modern interplay of lines and textures.

However, my personal favourite is Bovolo, a geometric pattern of velvet circles and rectangles that simply screams Art Deco reinvented !!!

So there you are, a whistle-stop tour of Osborne & Little’s spring offering. But, as I always say, mere words cannot do justice to any collection, let alone a collection as vibrant as this. So why not give us a call and make an appointment to see the books for yourself – you won’t be disappointed.
