I love Spring !!! Everything seems fresh and new. The croci are popping their pretty little heads out of the cold earth like little beacons of hopefulness, the birds are building new nests, and interior design houses are launching their latest offerings


As regular readers of this missive will know, spring is the time when most of the major manufacturers in our industry release their first collections of the year, followed by a further offering in the autumn. This has traditionally coincided with the London shows, and been accompanied by national advertising campaigns. In fact, by the time you read this we at John Charles Interiors will have hot-footed it down to London Design Week, based in and around the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre, and seen all that’s new and fabulous – but more of that in future editorials.


However, for the last few years (pandemic excepted) some of the more on-the-ball companies have found it beneficial to launch a little early, and get ahead of the competition in showing their wares to us designers. I suppose the main reason for this is so that we commit to buying their pattern books (yes, you heard correctly – we have to BUY all our pattern books !!!) while the sampling budget for the season is still healthy.


One such company, and a perennial favourite of mine, is Osborne & Little. They always seem to hit the mark in presenting collections that are both innovative and relevant to the direction the industry is currently travelling in.


Their major collection this Spring comprises both fabric and wallpaper books entitled Ananda – apparently meaning Bliss in Sanskrit.
