CLASS NOTES


July 1, 2024 – January 31, 2025 ’60s


FRANK KYTCHAK, D.C. (`64) retired in September 2024 at the age of 81. He purchased and built Kytchak Chiropractic Center in Greenville, Pennsylvania, in 1979 with the help of his late wife, Jana, and eventually his children Brian, Suzanne, and David.


CARSEN TANNBERG, D.C. (`68) retired from practice at 94 years of age. The German native practiced in Canada for 10 years before relocating his family to Australia, where he established Corrimal Family Chiropractic Centre and continued to practice until his retirement.


’70s


RODNEY CASADA, D.C. (`78) was recognized at the SCC Foundation Hall of Honor Dinner & Auction on September 24 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky. This event pays tribute to individuals who have made a lasting impact on Somerset Community College and the communities in which they live. He established Casada Chiropractic in Somerset, where he served his community until his retirement in 2015.


’80s


WILLIAM GRESS, D.C. (`82) celebrated a 40-year career milestone in November 2024. After initially working for a doctor in Indiana for a short time after graduation, Dr. Gress established Gress Chiropractic Clinic in Homewood, Illinois, in 1984. He built his practice from the ground up, and over the years, he has treated thousands of individuals, providing pain relief to people in the Chicagoland area and Northwest Indiana.


PHILLIP MAXWELL, D.C. (`84) was awarded the Alabama State Chiropractic Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Association’s annual convention in June 2024. This highest honor recognizes a lifetime of commitment to the Association and the chiropractic profession. Dr. Maxwell served the Association for 34 years and retired in July 2024 after 38 years of practice in Decatur, Alabama.


KEVIN FOGARTY, D.C. (`85), physician at Fogarty Chiropractic Life Clinic, celebrated his 40th year in chiropractic practice in Rockledge, Florida. Dr. Fogarty serves as the current chairman for Life University and has spoken throughout the Americas, Europe, China, and Australia. In addition to his 1985 graduation from Palmer College, he received his Legion of Chiropractic Philosophers certification from his alma mater in 2004.


’90s


CASEY BEARDEN, D.C. (`93) was honored with the 2024 James R. Cole Heritage Award by the Tennessee Chiropractic Association. Dr. Bearden, who opened Action Spine and Joint in West Nashville, Tennessee, in 1994, was chosen by his peers to receive this recognition in honor of his career-long commitment to his patients, profession, and community.


TODD WHITEHEAD, D.C. (`95) was elected as the Texas Chiropractic Association’s new president. A third-generation Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Whitehead is a powerful advocate for chiropractic and has served on the Association’s board of directors. He has won numerous awards from TCA, including Young Chiropractor of the Year, President’s Award, Board of Directors Award, and Legislative Award. Since 1996, Whitehead has owned and operated Precision Chiropractic in Amarillo, Texas.

SCOTT L. HESSLER, D.C. (`04) joined Scott Family Health in Loveland, Colorado. Dr. Hessler had previously practiced at Kaiser Permanente in Colorado since 2018.


CHRISTIE HALBE, D.C. (`08), along with her husband, Tony, built Exuberance Chiropractic & Wellness Center, a 4,000 square foot clinic to “expand wellness services to the surrounding community.” Exuberance is located in Lakeville, Minnesota, and offers chiropractic care, stretch therapy, massage, acupuncture, nutrition counseling, prehabilitation/rehabilitation, functional fitness, and personal training.

CHRISTINA HALL, D.C. (`11) was named 2024 Best of the City by Albuquerque the Magazine. Prior to returning to her native New Mexico and opening Wishbone Chiropractic in Albuquerque, Dr. Hall provided care at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and to the U.S. Navy football team.


ANDREW SCHIEBER, D.C. (`11) returned to his native Fairmont, Minnesota, to open Journey Chiropractic in October 2024. Dr. Schieber previously practiced in Montana and completed mission work in Asia.


DILLON BALKIN, D.C. (`18) joined the ranks as a chiropractor for the NFL. The Darnestown, Maryland, D.C. spent 2024 working with elite athletes like the Washington Commanders rookie quarterback, Jayden Daniels. Since opening Optimal Performance Rehab in 2019, Balkin’s approach has centered on providing a comprehensive care model that integrates chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, and soft tissue work.


GONZALO VARGAS, D.C. (`19) opened Vargas Family Chiropractic, a bilingual practice serving the community of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Prior to opening the practice in May 2024, Dr. Vargas served in multiple practices across Central Florida.


’20s


OWEN MCCONNELL, D.C. (`21) began his role as the resident chiropractor at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Illinois, in December. Dr. McConnell also serves as a certified athletic trainer on the hospital’s sports medicine team.


MARCOS PERIVOLARIS, D.C. (`22) and BRITTANI PIAZZA, D.C. (`22), the founders of Gonstead Chiropractic Clinic of Sarasota, Florida, were recognized in September with the 2024 Best of Florida Award, presented by GuidetoFlorida. com. This award highlights businesses that excel in their field, as determined by customer votes, and reflects the clinic’s commitment to delivering precise, patient-focused care.


CODY ESTREL, D.C. (`22) joined Frame Chiropractic & Acupuncture in Toledo, Ohio, on October 1, 2024. Dr. Estrel works with patients of all ages, including a number of athletes. His near-term goal is to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, and he plans to pursue a license in acupuncture.


MORGAN RILEY, D.C. (`23) joined Zozzaro Chiropractic and Rehab in 2024. Located in Normal, Illinois, Zozzaro Chiropractic and Rehab is owned and operated by fellow Palmer alumnus, John Zozzaro, D.C. (`96).


ABIGAIL PFAFFENBACH, D.C. (`24) opened Resilient Life Chiropractic in North Manchester, Indiana. Dr. Pfaffenbach, who also received her Animal Chiropractic Certification in 2024, prides herself on being a caring family and animal chiropractor.
