A MISSION TO GIVE BACK

How one alumna is supporting the future of chiropractic education.

DR.

JACKSON’S TOP FIVE REASONS TO GIVE BACK

1 Palmer helped me to build a life I love and a career that helps people. I want to extend that opportunity to anyone who wants it.

FOR EVERY CHIROPRACTOR, there is a moment that solidifies their love for the field and clarifies their reason for practicing. For Teresa Jackson, D.C. (`07), that moment came on a study abroad trip to Brazil. Dr. Jackson was already studying at Palmer Florida, and had committed herself to the chiropractic profession, but in Brazil, her relationship with the practice took on a deeper meaning. “Tat’s where I truly fell in love with

chiropractic,” says Dr. Jackson. “Tere was such a great need, and being able to provide relief for people who were in pain — and to see their deep gratitude for the care we gave — helped me connect with chiropractic as a real tool for good.” Since then, Dr. Jackson has taken steps to

make sure her profession and her values are in alignment. Tat includes how she gives back to the nonprofits that she believes in, including Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Jackson is a proud member of Palmer

College’s Founder’s Circle, a special collection of passionate donors who make annual leadership giſts to Palmer College, setting the pace for giving. “My first giſt to Palmer was in support of a scholarship,” says Dr. Jackson. “I believe in creating opportunities, and scholarships are a powerful way to do that. Scholarships were part of my journey, and I’m proud that Palmer is investing in making chiropractic education possible for more students.”

—Teresa Jackson, D.C. Last year, Dr. Jackson made her first visit to

Te Fountainhead, attending Homecoming in Davenport. It was an opportunity to drink in Palmer history, meet friends new and old, and engage with current Palmer students and leaders. “It’s a trip every Palmer grad should make at some point,” says Dr. Jackson. “Getting to interact with leaders like Dr. [Dennis] Marchiori and Dr. [Bill] Sherrier and hear their vision for the College was inspirational. And I also got so much energy from talking with current students. Seeing their zeal and their passion for the College and our profession… I was truly Palmer proud.” Today, Dr. Jackson lives and works in

Georgia as the owner of Total Health and Injury Specialist, where her focus is on patients who have been in auto accidents and suffered sports injuries, along with those who need prenatal and pediatric care. A former cross-country runner and all-natural bodybuilder, Dr. Jackson particularly enjoys engaging with and supporting athletes. “Palmer trained me as a doctor and an

entrepreneur,” says Dr. Jackson. “I believe strongly that we owe it to the people and places that built us up to give back. Fortunately, I’m in a position to make a donation to a place I care for and deeply believe in.”

2 I’m a product of scholarships — they can change a student’s life. If you want to make an instant impact, consider funding a scholarship.

3 Giving should reflect your values. My family works together to discuss the causes we support. It brings us closer and lets us share what is most important to us.

4 I believe in the power of chiropractic to help people around the globe. Tat power started at Palmer; my giſt to Palmer is an investment in the future of the profession.

5 We always think, ‘Oh, someone will step up.’ Tat person is you! It’s our job to make a difference today. Let’s do it!
