Alumni return home to speak to students
“When I was at Palmer College of Chiropractic, the legends always came home,” recalls Brad Poock, D.C. (`89). “People like Sid Williams, D.C. (`56), and Fred Barge, D.C. (`54). They returned because they cared about their alma mater and the profession. That inspired me and made it clear how much Palmer valued the perspective and experience of alumni.” That tradition remains alive today. Through alumni speaking opportunities throughout the year, the College brings accomplished alumni and respected experts back to campus to teach, exchange ideas, and reconnect with the institution that shaped their careers. Students gain access to leaders in the profession, while alumni sharpen their skills, expand their perspectives, and strengthen relationships with colleagues. Today, Dr. Poock is one of those returning voices. An

internationally recognized authority on chiropractic philosophy, he sees teaching as both a privilege and a responsibility. “If I don’t share what I’ve learned, it dies with me,” he says. “That’s not why we’re here.” For Dr. Poock, continuing education reflects the
profession’s commitment to lifelong learning. It gives Doctors of Chiropractic an opportunity to explore new ideas, revisit foundational principles, and learn from colleagues who have spent years refining their craft. “Chiropractic is a science first, but D.D. Palmer understood that philosophy explains our science,” Dr. Poock says. “When you understand how those pieces connect, it changes how you practice. Palmer creates a space for people to keep learning and make that connection.”
