A new era of student support
This summer, federal reforms under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OB3) eliminated Grad PLUS loans for new borrowers, cutting off funding that thousands of graduate and first professional students have relied on for nearly two decades. For Palmer College of Chiropractic students, the implications are immediate. “Grad PLUS loans have been how an entire generation of Palmer students made their
education possible,” says Abbey Nagle-Kuch, dean of student affairs. “Beyond tuition, students use those loans to help cover rent, food, gas, childcare, and all the real-life expenses that allowed them to stay focused on school.” Palmer is prepared to help students navigate this shift, but the loss of Grad PLUS loans
remains significant for students today and in the future. The Palmer Student Emergency Relief Fund (PSERF), along with other student support resources, is being expanded to help cover housing, food access, childcare, and transportation. “Whether or not we can say, ‘We have systems in place to support you throughout your education’ is going to increasingly shape whether talented future chiropractors choose to enroll at all,” says Nagle-Kuch. The challenges facing today’s students may be changing, but Palmer’s commitment to them is not.
By supporting PSERF, you can help ensure every student has the resources they need to stay enrolled and stay focused. Make a donation to the fund now at
