Keeping you and your pharma cool
As the pharmaceutical world continues to grow, operating in a field where innovation and urgency converge, it needs a logistics partner that understands this delicate balance. As a trusted leader in air cargo, Air France KLM Martinair (AFKLMP) Cargo Pharma offers precision, reliability and expertise, positioning itself as the premium pharmaceutical partner.
FKLMP Cargo Pharma operations support an elaborate cool chain process, embracing the trucking, ground handling and flight sectors. On a daily basis, our trucking network operates 2-8C and 15-25C cool trucks to most European destinations and on numerous overseas routes.

Upon arrival at our hubs in Amsterdam and Paris, pharmaceuticals are stored in our 20,000m³-plus cool room facilities before being prepared for shipment. Our widebody aircraft maintain the cool chain in our temperature-controlled cargo holds, with flight crew controlling the temperature settings through a Notification to Captain (NOTOC) procedure. Once at the destination airport, your delicate Pharma shipments are stored at the required temperature in local station facilities, while awaiting customs clearance and pickup.
An interconnected cool chain Newly appointed global head of pharmaceutical logistics, Lauren Stolt, says: “While the above lies at the heart of AFKLMP Cargo’s cool chain, we are always looking for ways to enhance our services. Earlier this year, three new cool rooms were opened at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and continued cool chain expansion across both hubs is planned for early 2024 to accommodate ongoing growth.
expanding its total capacity by no less than 40%. The revamp is of particular significance for the pharmaceutical sector, focusing on accommodating specialised cargo and representing a 60% increase in Active container handling capacity.”
Embodied Pharma expertise While infrastructure is pivotal, the essence of AFKLMP Cargo’s Pharma operations lies in its team’s unrivalled expertise. Our team is especially knowledgeable when it comes to the intricacies of the pharmaceutical sector. This is best reflected in the following awards: IATA CEIV Pharma certifications, the first airline group to be certified three times back-to-back. Whether it is the account managers at the frontline or the cold chain management specialists overseeing broader operations, every tier in the organisation resonates with a commitment to delivering best-in-class customer experiences.
Global reach, strong partnerships The pharmaceutical industry hinges on time-critical shipments. AFKLMP Cargo’s expansive network shines out in this respect. Offering 120 widebody and full- freighter destinations – all connected through Amsterdam and/or Paris – its reach is impressive. And its frequency is equally noteworthy: 55 destinations are served by daily connections, while 95 are

myCargo: achieving digital excellence
Our industry leading online platform is a testament to the company’s commitment to achieving digital excellence. Originally designed as a tool for direct bookings, we continuously adapt to a rapidly changing world to meet the unique challenges of the pharma sector. With the inclusion of Dry ICE and Active Container shipments (from September), most pharma shipments can now be booked online. The next step is to become the first airline to provide real-time tracking of Envirotainer Active containers’ key metrics through the myCargo platform.
