educational initiatives and charitable causes. With its blend of local culture, history and modern luxury, we find out why Hotel Indigo Leeds is set to become a distinctive part of the city’s hospitality landscape.
Can you elaborate on howthe hotel’s design and guest experience reflect Leeds’ industrial heritage? Are there specific stories or landmarks that inspired the interiors? Simon Grace: We’re excited to share the three narratives we’ve used to inspire the design of the hotel guest rooms. Our first is ‘Clue and Deco’, which is inspired by the rise and success of Waddingtons in the 1920s, capturing the playful essence of its most iconic boardgames, seamlessly blended with the ’20s style to invite guests into a world of intrigue and nostalgia. Inspired by the innovative legacy of Burton and
Leeds’s rich history in the textile industry, our second narrative weaves together the natural tones of wool with the prestige of bespoke tailoring. Offering a soft, traditional base, the design has playful details interwoven and nods to less-known innovations in Leeds including the mousetrap and the origins of carbonation. Lastly, drawing inspiration from Leeds’ vibrant
culture and centring its legacy as ‘the city that invented film’, back in the spotlight, this guest room design captures the opulence and mystery of cinema, infused with the energy of nightlife and music the city is well-known for. The design features playful, hidden details echoing the spirit of the Leeds nightlife.
Will there be any events or partnerships with local artists, musicians or businesses to bring that vision to life? SG: One of the most important reasons we’re

bringing Hotel Indigo to Leeds is because of its sense of local identity across all sectors and cultural events. We’ll be looking at local partnerships with brands,
along with opportunities for local musicians and DJs in our brand-new restaurant at the hotel, The Banksia. We’re also keen to support local events for education across local colleges, universities and schools, focusing on apprenticeships as another opportunity for local students. With our brand-new meeting rooms and open
spaces in the hotel and bar and restaurant – The Banksia – we welcome local businesses to host networking events and community group meetings in our spaces. We’re also offering charitable support to both local charities and organisations, as well as other businesses in the surrounding areas, raising funds for their chosen charities too.
