IVC COMMERCIAL
With a vision for a modern street food restaurant on the ground floor with a games zone on upper floors, the owners of Viva Torquay have turned an old and weathered fish and chip shop into one of the town’s best entertainment venues. With indoor street golf, pool tables, ping pong, interactive darts and games, Viva Torquay is now a year-round destination for the town’s residents and seasonal holidaymakers. As part of the refurbishment of the building, a range of floors from IVC Commercial has been chosen, turning the 500 sq m games zone into a compelling and mesmerising play of pattern and texture.

LOUIS DE POORTERE Designed by Folkform in collaboration with Louis De Poortere, The Monochromes explores the craft of machine weaving in a range of woven rugs. Within The Monochromes Collection, colour plays a crucial role in revealing the secrets and intricacies of industrial weaving. The Monochromes reverses the face of the rug, so that the jute backing takes front and centre, the textile’s Wilton structure highlighted by brightly coloured wool wefts. As the wool weft weaves its path through the jute warp, colour is allowed to build up or fall away depending on the density of the weave – different shades of the same colour emerge through the treatment of a single thread.
