New chief exec for FLS from April
Kevin Quinlan, current director of environment and forestry (EnFor) with the Scottish government, is to take up a new role as the chief executive of Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS). Mr Quinlan will take up the reins in April 2024, following the retirement of current CE, Simon Hodgson. “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead Forestry and Land Scotland,” said Mr Quinlan. “FLS is a key agency of the Scottish government, delivering a wide range of environmental,
social and economic benefits for Scotland. “I would like to thank Simon Hodgson for having steered the organisation through some difficult years and for helping to ensure that FLS’ acknowledged position as forestry experts and pre-eminent land managers is assured.” A fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and holding an MBA (Warwick University), Mr Quinlan has extensive experience of government and business, having served as director of Environment & Forestry, director for International Trade
JB Kind Doors expands sales team With 10 years in retail door sales at

Door suppliers, JB Kind, has strengthened its team by appointing two new regional sales managers.
Kash Scrimshire joins JB Kind as regional sales manager for East Anglia and the northern home counties and Shane McGuire has been appointed as regional sales manager for London and the south- east region.
Todd Doors, Mr Scrimshire has extensive experience of working with interior designers, architects and homeowners to provide advice and guidance on doors. Mr McGuire has 26 years’ experience in the door industry, which includes five years at Humphrey & Stretton on the production side and 21 years at XL Joinery. He is experienced in door service inspection, so has an in-depth understanding of technical door specification and door fitting. He also has a Diploma in Fire Doors and in Architectural Ironmongery.
Both Mr Scrimshire and Mr McGuire will be introducing merchants to JB Kind’s 2024 door collection and the company’s range of internal door designs, including the new Aria door range. They will also be demonstrating JB Kind’s exclusive door visualiser, which brings its doors to life in a realistic environment with the customer able to select their door to perfectly complement a variety of wall colours and flooring options.
Peter Kershaw retires from NYTimber
After a 60-year career in timber Peter Kershaw, of North Yorkshire-headquartered timber merchants NYTimber, has retired. Mr Kershaw was managing director of NYTimber from 1996 to 2009, then continued to work part-time with the business on specialist products, sales and some staff training.

make a career in the industry working with a product I love,” said Mr Kershaw. “My move to NYTimber was definitely the most significant part of my career. There have been highs and lows but, overall, it has been very enjoyable. I have met many people in the trade who are still friends.”
□ Former Norbord CEO Peter Wijnbergen replaced longstanding Swiss Krono CEO Martin Brettenthaler on February 1 after the latter decided to pursue a new career path. Mr Wijnbergen has been a member of the board of directors of Swiss Krono Holding Ltd since 2022.

Koppers announces new European managing director
Koppers Performance Chemicals has announced the appointment of its new managing director, Dr Steve Crimp. The appointment follows the retirement of Thomas Scharling Christensen, who leaves an admirable 30+ year legacy with the company.
New MD, Steve Crimp, is himself a Koppers veteran, having been with the business in Australia and New Zealand for 28 years, 15 of which were spent as general manager of the Performance Chemicals business in New Zealand. “Thomas has built a highly motivated, hard-working team and created a strong collaborative environment that celebrates and prioritises the company’s core values of people, planet and performance,” said Dr Crimp. “I look forward to building on Thomas’ achievements, keeping the big picture firmly in mind.
“Koppers is entering a phase of growth with new product registrations approved, including Koppers’ patented MicroPro, which is the industry standard for timber treatment in most parts of the globe, which will open lots of new business opportunities across Europe.
