Daltons Wadkin expands team
Nottingham-based industrial woodworking machine distributor Daltons Wadkin, which celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2021, has expanded its team by three – in three different departments.
Connor O’Neill has joined the team as a field service engineer and is based in north-west Yorkshire.
Bringing with him a wealth of experience in the industry, Mr O’Neill previously worked for another woodworking machinery dealer prior to joining Daltons Wadkin.
Joining the “red team” of dedicated machine trainers is Lee Hook, who managed a large production workshop within the prison service.
As an experienced wood machinist, Mr Hook brings a great deal of experience to the company, delivering a unique range
of industry-leading operator training courses across the UK and Ireland. The latest arrival to Daltons Wadkin is Joshua Dudley, the newest member of the CNC support team, who has recently completed a three-year apprenticeship and obtained an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering. In continuing his development, Mr Dudley will undergo a 12-month machine- specific training programme working alongside the business’ existing engineers. “It’s exciting to be taking on new members of the team,” said Alex Dalton, managing director.
“Our new recruits will bring a lot to our already strong workforce. It is great to be in a position to expand different areas of the business and gives us a lot of confidence heading into 2022.”

The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has further strengthened its in-house team with two key appointments. Kerry Wilson has taken up her post as learning and development manager and Daniel Hodder joins as policy and public affairs adviser.
Ms Wilson’s appointment coincides with the BMF’s appointment of LEAP as the new full-service providers of the BMF Apprenticeship Plus service. As learning and development manager, she will champion and manage the enhanced service, helping to promote and support apprenticeship growth for the long-term benefit of the merchant sector. Ms Wilson joins the BMF from Travis Perkins, where she was a lead apprenticeship coach, creating and facilitating learner management and delivery as well as mentoring and coaching apprentices. Prior to this, she spent 15 years at Boots Opticians as learning hub manager.
As policy and public affairs adviser, Daniel Hodder will work closely with CEO John Newcomb and longstanding policy and public affairs officer Brett Amphlett to help strengthen the BMF’s relationships and influence with government. Mr Hodder, who has a degree in politics and international relations and a Master’s degree in international security studies, previously worked as a policy adviser at the Almshouse Association.
“These appointments will strengthen our resources in support of two key themes identified as part of our latest strategic review – developing the role we play in attracting and retaining talent in the industry and helping to build awareness and influence with government,” said John Newcomb, CEO of the BMF.
