Tommy Trinder launches sales tool app
Above: The app is designed by installers, for installers
TommyTrinder.com Ltd has launched a suite of specialist timber features on its Framepoint app, which, it says, will help installers “sell with a ‘wow’”. Developed by former installer Chris Brunsdon, who is now CEO of Tommy Trinder, the app is designed by installers, for installers and makes it easy to sell all types of windows and doors – regardless of manufacturer and material.
Mr Brunsdon, a former director of The
Performance Timber Products Group and founder of
TimberWindows.Com, has brought his extensive knowledge of the timber market to bear in the design of the new module.
“Coming from a timber background, I know that details matter. The challenge was to keep things fast, simple and
easy to use whilst providing the ability to showcase all the features that make wooden windows and doors special.” Framepoint technology allows users to free draw timber windows and doors with a finger or mouse, just like sketching on a pad. Frame and sash depths can be easily customised; it’s one touch to add deeper head sections, or traditionally proportioned deep bottom rails to flush casements or sash windows. And a raft of timber specific details – such as lambs tongue mouldings, raised and field panels, cill nosings, single glazing, and sash horns – can be visualised and priced in a tap.
Allowing clients to see how their wooden windows and doors will look in a full range of colourways is also important. “Nowadays white windows and doors account for less than 50% of the domestic timber replacement market, so we’ve made sure that a full range of colours and stains are available for selection; over 32 stain choices and 300 paint finishes, including all the ever-popular Farrow and Ball colour options,” said Mr Brunsdon. A range of timber-orientated ironmongery has also been uploaded to Framepoint in preparation for launch of the timber suite, including an extensive range from specialist ironmonger, Coastal.
Woodsafe makes acquisition in Sweden
Woodsafe Timber Protection has acquired the Rescue Services fire testing ground site in Västerås, Sweden. The company, one of the Nordic region’s leading suppliers of fire-retardant treated wood products, has acquired the 70,000m2 site as part of its expansion policy.
The acquisition means unhindered expansion of the plant, new products and increased efficiency, capacity and R&D opportunities.
“This is truly a milestone in the company’s 30-year history,” said Thomas Bengtsson CEO and founder of Woodsafe.
Services, a category-leading manufacturer of proprietary and high-efficacy antimicrobial and biocidal products, announced on December 23, 2021. “The completion of two strategic deals in our first six months as an independent company shows our commitment to strengthening our position as a partner of choice in microbial control through the addition of new applications and active ingredients to our portfolio,” said Marc Doyle, Arxada chief executive officer. “We are delighted to welcome our new colleagues and look forward to building on our combined expertise to deliver new solutions and services to our customers.”
MARTIN chooses MWM for England and Wales sales
MARTIN Machinery, which has been manufacturing woodworking machinery for almost 100 years, has recently appointed Leicestershire-based MWM Markfield Woodworking Machinery as its exclusive distributor for England and Wales.
MARTIN, one of the leading German manufacturers of classic woodworking machinery, has been working very successfully with MWM since 2010. “MWM has proven to be a capable and reliable partner over the years of our very successful collaboration,” said Georg Jansen, UK sales manager. The impressive customer focus in particular led to the decision to entrust MWM exclusively with this important sales territory for MARTIN in the UK, added Mr Jansen.
Electric timber truck development
SCA and Scania are together developing what they call the first electric timber truck with a technical capability of up to 80 tonnes total weight.
The electric truck will transport timber in the Swedish region of Västerbotten, between SCA’s terminal in Gimonäs and its papermill in Obbola outside Umeå, starting in 2022.
Every year, SCA transports about 8.5 million m3
265 timber trucks.
