GALLEYWOOD Galleywood Timber is investing in support services for its own timber trade
Galleywood Timber (GT) is a family run timber importer established in 2010 by Jim Roberts and his business partner, Peter Allen to service timber from the Baltic States to its customer base in the pallet and packing case industry. Having already run a successful logistics company in Wisbech, the timber volumes for Galleywood enabled the Group to take control of the transport needs from sawmill to customer.

GT was aware that many frustrations in supply came from delays in shipping, handling, and onward delivery. Although timber supply in itself can be difficult, when all of the problems were added together, it seemed tricky to give any certainty on supply. GT, with its sister company, Port of Wisbech Ltd (PW), already had 10 acres of outside storage plus old cranes and fork trucks. A programme of heavy investment to upgrade handling equipment was needed,
