Pfleiderer commissions new €15m short-cycle press facility at Gütersloh production site

Pfleiderer has commissioned its new short-cycle press 7 (KT7) production facility in Gütersloh. The new construction project, with an investment value of around €15m, has thus been completed after just over a year. In future, high-quality

coated chipboard with particularly deep structures and synchronous pores will be manufactured here for furniture and interior design. Commissioning took place

in November. “Production at our

Gütersloh coating plant is highly automated, especially

the feeding of chipboard and decorative impregnates to the coating presses,” said Stefan Zinn, CCO of the Pfleiderer Group.

“This automation is also

very important for the cost- effectiveness of the new short-cycle press.” The installation of the induction and transfer carriages for the press inlet and outlet, as well as the short-cycle press in between, took a good two months each. “The commissioning of the plant began in June 2025 and is now completed,” added Mr Zinn.

Xylexpo reports registrations for 2026 show gathering pace “The next edition of

Many Italian and international companies have already submitted their registration to the next edition of Xylexpo 2026, the biennial international exhibition for the wood and furniture industries. The exhibition takes place on June 9 to 12 at the Rho Fairgrounds in Milan with early-bird benefits offered to companies registering before November 30. The offer has driven many companies to speed up their registration despite the “wait-and-see” mood that is affecting the global industry of technology for wood and furniture.

Xylexpo,” said exhibition director Dario Corbetta, “will keep its promise of setting up an international event that provides a clear view of “made in Italy”. “The event will have a dual approach: on one side, a place where Italian companies have their own “home exhibition”, and on the other, an opportunity for companies from all around the world to get directly in touch with the Italian market, one of the most relevant on a global scale.” The focus topics for the

events scheduled during the

four-day exhibition are set. The first day will be dedicated to wood construction; the highlight will be the first edition of Holzbau Forum Italia at Xylexpo, presenting an agenda focused on the closer and closer integration of technology, design and construction. The topic of the second

day will be drying, featuring the presentation of the new “Drying handbook” by Conlegno and the University of Florence. On day three, the spotlights will be cast onto finishing technology and products, while the last day will be dedicated to tools. The agenda will include more events, presentations, interviews, testimonials and insights in collaboration with institutes, universities and experts. A rich calendar is also being defined for Composites Future, the expo & conference dedicated to technologies and materials for composites, making its debut In Hall 18 in collaboration with Plast, the exhibition of technology for the plastic and rubber industry, held concurrently.

Nile Wood produces its first MDF board in Egypt

The Nile Wood MDF plant in Egypt has produced the first board at its plant in Sadat City, according to German plant supplier Dieffenbacher. Dieffenbacher posted an announcement on Linkedin saying the plant produced its first board on June 17. Nile Wood is a subsidiary of

Egypt Kuwait Holding and the group’s first venture into the wood-based panels industry. Dieffenbacher’s scope of supply for Nile Wood included a MAIER chipping line, a wood chip-cleaning line, the dryer, air grader and gluing system, the forming station and forming line, a CPS+ continuous press, the raw board handling and storage system, and a sanding and sawing line.

The plant is designed to

achieve an annual production capacity of 200,000m3

. The

woodchip cleaning system is designed to eliminate plastics, glass, stones, metals and other impurities from the raw material infeed.
