We thank our loyal customers for placing their trust in our construction equipment.

European market. The compact models it has launched help customers to work quietly and productively, operate effortlessly in small spaces, and perform efficiently with fewer maintenance requirements and less downtime than conventional diesel models.

Satisfied customers

Many customers have stayed with HCME through generations, relying on Hitachi machines to maintain high levels of productivity and availability, and keep their operators safe and comfortable, in often challenging working conditions. HCME feels proud to have been part of their success stories over the decades and privileged to be their first-choice solutions provider.

A typical example is Belgian contractor Ceulemans Fr & Co, which has been a customer of local Hitachi dealer Luyckx since 1982. It currently has two ZX490LCH-6s in its fleet excavating high-quality clay, which is used for reinforcing dikes as part of the Dutch Flood Protection Programme.

“We are satisfied with these machines because of their low fuel consumption, very smooth operation and precise finishing thanks to the hydraulics,” says Wim Ceuelemans, who runs the company. “All of our Hitachi machines have proved to be equally reliable and had a strong resale value.”

Reliable performance

Another customer is Jan De Nul Group, which utilised a ZX690LCH-7 on a

specialist earthmoving project at a reservoir at Trois-Ponts, part of the hydroelectric power station at Coo-Trois- Ponts in Belgium. It was used with three other large (an EX1200-6, ZX870LCR-5 and ZX490LCH-6) and four medium (three ZX350LC-6s and a ZX225USLC-6) excavators.

They were scheduled to excavate one million cubic metres of materials over a nine-month period at the lower end of the site. These were used to: raise the height of the reservoir by 3m; stabilise the surrounding dikes by reducing the gradient from 66.67% to 50%; and ultimately increase the capacity of the reservoir by 7.5%.

“The Hitachi excavators are the key to the production on this site. They are strong, reliable and the level of availability is very high,” said Bert Dierick, Jan De Nul Group’s Site Manager at Trois-Ponts. Kris De Backer, Technical Supervisor at Jan De Nul Group, added: “Our operators say that Hitachi makes the best large excavator in the market.”

Facing the future

Looking to the future, HCME is building on its reputation for manufacturing reliable, high-quality and technologically advanced equipment to offer in-house customised solutions or in partnership with leading suppliers. This includes its joint venture, Kenki Technology Group, in Germany, which was set up to expedite the time to market for Hitachi’s advanced zero-emission construction

and special application machinery, as well as ICT-supported products.

It is welcoming the shift to digitalisation with leading remote monitoring solutions and technologies. And it continues to strengthen its relationships with people and partners, as it expands its rental and used equipment programmes, and provides invaluable support to customers throughout the life cycle of their equipment.

HCME CEO and President Francesco Quaranta, who joined the company in 2024, says: “It is thanks to the passion and dedication of our employees, suppliers and dealers, that HCME is celebrating more than five decades,” he says.

“We thank our loyal customers for placing their trust in our construction equipment. We recognise the role it plays in creating the buildings and infrastructure that are essential to our lives, and our responsibility to support our customers in their activities.

“Together, we embrace the future and the challenges it holds, as we aim to become the first-choice solutions provider for our customers, helping to build a better, sustainable future for all.”

Whatever vision customers wish to create, Hitachi Construction Machinery has the product, people, solutions and services to make it become a reality – and empower them to take control of their world.
