Over the last 5 years we have invested in over 25,000 hours of R&D, £3m of cutting-edge manufacturing equipment, a second building bringing our manufacturing space to nearly 30,000sqft. We now employee nearly 100 high- skilled staff and are proud to contribute toward net-zero. An example of our work in the hydro sector – Project Holter
In 2021, Project Holter began, set to last five years, involving multiple hydro generator rewinds and refurbishments at the Holter dam on the Missouri River. Managed by Northwestern Corporation, the initiative aims to increase the dam’s output capacity, extending its operational lifespan and supplying more renewable energy to Montana. The goal is to raise annual generation from 350,000,000 kWh to over 500,000,000 kWh, powering an extra 16,500 homes and businesses with renewable energy.
In partnership with Sidewinders LLC, a leading hydro repair specialist, Preformed
Windings significantly increased each hydro generator’s output while extending their lifespan and reducing maintenance. Leveraging our expertise in HV coils and hydro generation, we achieved this with the QualCoil- Hydro specification, designed for durability with minimal upkeep. The first generator was recommissioned in late 2021, followed by the second in 2022. Northwestern Corporation praised the target and significant output increases achieved, along with adherence to the planned outage schedule. Sidewinders LLC expressed gratitude for the collaboration.
