Grove GHC220 in North America Ceccanti receives the first
Ceccanti, a construction company based in Tacoma, Washington, has received the first Grove GHC220 telescopic crawler crane in North America. The crane, which has a lifting
capacity of 220USt, is currently working on the Gravelly-Thorne Connector project in Lakewood, Washington. This infrastructure project involves building a 1.3-mile shared-use path alongside Interstate 5. Western Pacific Crane & Equipment,
a Manitowoc distributor for the Pacific Coast region, supplied the new equipment. The distributor’s involvement included providing on-site support and ensuring access to parts to maintain operational efficiency. Representatives from both Western
Pacific and Grove also assisted Ceccanti during the commissioning of the crane and the initial orientation to its operational features and technologies. Following the completion of work in
Lakewood, Ceccanti plans to deploy the GHC220 on the West Duwamish Wet Weather Storage facility project in Seattle. This facility will hold 1.25 million
gallons of stormwater and wastewater, redirecting excess flows from the Duwamish River to treatment. Tasks at this site require the crane to
lift heavy components, such as 15USt gang forms and structures up to 36ft tall, sometimes while moving the load to different locations.
The GHC220 is Grove’s highest-
capacity telescoping crawler crane and allows for heavy loads to be lifted and moved around job sites with inclines up to four degrees, maintaining a full 360-degree swing. Its design, which includes new boom pinning locations and the option of a 71.5ft extension, enables it to reach a maximum tip height of 265.7ft. The crane is engineered for rapid site
assembly, being transportable in six to seven loads. Ceccanti vice-president and chief estimator Jon VanderGriend said: “We purchased this GHC220 with the storage tank project in mind, as it is a perfect fit for this application. “It’s a busy job site, which makes the
GHC220’s ease of assembly, combined with its lift-and-carry capability, the ideal choice for reaching every spot on the job site.” Ceccanti has now added eight
Manitowoc cranes to its fleet, utilising both the parts and service support of Western Pacific Crane & Equipment and manufacturer support options such as training and digital resources.
