ABNORMAL TRANSPORT Ӏ SECTOR SPOTLIGHT
Europe, however, is
Faymonville’s largest sales market and, according to Fickers, remains another key focus. “MAX Trailer now offers pendle-axle vehicles for higher payloads in that market,” he says. “Two vehicle types have been integrated into a modular, highly standardised concept.” One of these is the MAX710
lowbed trailer – which was launched at Bauma last year; following it is the MAX810. “The MAX810 is a vehicle that
offers maximum flexibility with a minimal tare weight,” says Mario Faymonville, product manager and sales director at MAX Trailer. It can come with a six- or
seven-axle loading platform which can have either single or double telescopic extension. The platform can be coupled directly to the gooseneck, as well as two
or three axle bogies at the front. There is also the option to have ramps at the back hydraulic ramps. The vehicle is low; the minimum loading height is 800 millimetres. There is also an option to have
a remote control. The control unit, no bigger than that for a TV, can operate most functions, including lifting and lowering of the axles and of the gooseneck. The trailer has pendle axles with a 600mm stroke and steering angles up to 60°. It is capable of delivering a 12 tonne axle load at 80 kilometres an hour. The steering is adjustable for
every platform extension stage, which Faymonville says reduces tyre wear and ensures the vehicle runs perfectly through corners. The technical fifth wheel load is 38 tonnes, and the whole trailer is designed for 6x4 or 8x4 tractor
NOOTEBOOM UNVEILS 2+4 EURO-PX3 LOW LOADER
Dutch trailer manufacturer Nooteboom has announced the introduction of a new confi guration within its EURO-PX3 series, combining a two-axle Interdolly with a four-axle low loader.
The latest addition aims to address
increasing demand for larger payloads and greater operational fl exibility in the special transport sector. The 2+4 EURO-PX3 confi guration delivers an additional payload of over 1,000kg compared with the previous generation. Nooteboom states this increase does not
compromise the vehicle’s durability or ease of use. The model is designed in such a way that the two-axle Interdolly can be interchanged with both earlier EURO low loader generations and the existing EURO-PX3 line-up. The company indicates that this is intended to help operators reduce total ownership costs
by maintaining fl exible deployment options across fl eets.
Nooteboom says that the confi guration’s
steering system and vehicle layout have been optimised for exceptional transport. The company claims that the advanced
steering system allows for easier acquisition of long-term permits for longer vehicle combinations, and may reduce the requirement for a second driver. The model is available with various vehicle widths, axle spacings and tyre sizes, and offers a load capacity of 12 tonnes or 14 tonnes per axle line at 80km/h. Operators can combine the low loader with either a one- or two-axle Interdolly, depending on transport requirements. The fi rst delivery of the 2+4 EURO-PX3 with a 2-axle Interdolly is scheduled for Schaften Rental Cranes and Special Transport.
units and for a wide variety of operating scenarios from heavy duty transport in road traffic through to demanding conditions of ground terrain. There are now eight products in the MAX range, from the Max100 up to this latest 810.
MILITARY MIGHT The defence industry has special requirements for heavy transport: tanks, armoured vehicles and similar equipment need to be carried to their areas of deployment, generally on specialised low-loaders. Dutch manufacturer Nooteboom Trailers, in March this year, signed a co-operation agreement with technology group Rheinmetall to develop and distribute military Heavy Equipment Trailer (HET) solutions. The cooperation encompasses the mutual development, industrialisation, and marketing. The integrated systems will be designed to transport heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles, including recovery and armoured engineer vehicles. The partnership is a reaction to the significantly increasing demand for military off-road heavy transport in Europe. The increase is related to the growing operational use of heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles as well as large-scale NATO procurement programmes for battle tanks and fighting vehicles. The collaboration will reinforce the position of both companies in the field of military mobility, contributing to a more resilient and competitive European defence industry. A key strength of the
partnership is the complementary nature of the partners’ expertise. Nooteboom has decades of experience in designing, producing and maintaining special trailers for payloads of up to 200 tonnes; Rheinmetall as a leading international systems house for the defence industry will contribute its expertise in manufacturing military vehicles, cost-efficient industrial capacities, and international market access as part of a leading global defence group.
The joint solution combines Rheinmetall’s MAN highly mobile
