NEW compact TRT 35 Rough teRRain fRom TeRex
Terex Cranes unveiled its latest rough terrain, the TRT 35, at GIS, Italy's lifting show in Piacenza, in October 2021. The new 35t model expands the company’s TRT rough terrain range following the successful launch of the TRT 80 and the TRT 90 earlier last year. The range features the Terex Operating System (TEOS) that improves safety, usability, efficiency of navigation, operation and information flow. The cranes have compact dimensions, proportional telescopic boom, full power and come
equipped for the T-Link telematics platform allowing geo-localization and remote diagnostics. The TRT 35 has a synchronised, four-section boom that gives optimum lifting performance,
regardless of the boom length. Machine width is only 2.5m, so the crane can be easily transported and manoeuvred, even on congested job sites. Manoeuvrability is enhanced by four steering options. It is equipped with a Cummins four-cylinder engine with an Eco Mode function bringing high power and optimised consumption. The crane is also compatible with Cummins QSB4.5 Stage IIIA - Tier 3 and Cummins QSB4.5 Stage 5 - Tier 4F engines to meet different regional needs. For still more versatility the TRT 35 has Powershift (permanent four-wheel drive) with two modes to satisfy operators driving style: manual mode with three speeds forward and three speeds reverse, and automatic mode with five speeds forward and three speeds reverse. The TRT 35 is available in Europe now; the US version is available from early this year.
they get used by several people every day for several different things. One day they could be doing rigging work, the next day they could be doing bridge construction, the day after they could be setting up an air conditioning unit on a roof. Unlike larger all terrain cranes, which are going to have the same operator in the seat every single day, these get driven by multiple different people for short periods, so they need to be clear and uncomplicated in the controls.” And, like Terex, keeping up with demand is, well, demanding. “So far this year we have been selling our cranes as fast as we can build them,” says Elkins. “And we are building them as fast as we can get the parts. For aftermarket support for our customers we have just completed, in January, a warehouse expansion that adds 5,500 sq. m of space to our Parts Distribution Center. It is a $9m investment which centralises all of our parts distribution and is really helping our ability to serve our customers throughout the world.” Rough terrains, then, are in no danger of ceding their market to all-terrains, or to lattice crawlers, or it would seem to anything else. The advantages of a crane that really can travel over the roughest of rough ground are not going to go away.
