AC FAMILY LAuNCH FoR uNITED TADANo
Tadano has officially launched the AC 2.040-1. It is the first all terrain crane to be developed jointly by Tadano’s Lauf and Zweibrücken locations in Germany and is the very first member of Tadano’s new AC family. Tadano said the model also signals the completion of the announced brand merger – with all Tadano Group cranes now being sold exclusively under the Tadano brand name. As first in line, Tadano said future models (up to 15 new models planned over the next few years) will share the same DNA as the AC 2.040-1 in its standardised crane control system, cab, and technologies. Tech on the AC 2.040-1 includes: an
IC 1 Plus control system with automatic counterweight detection; a capacity radar; a work area display; the Flex
Base extendable outrigger system; and Tadano’s Surround View camera system; and IC 1 Remote telematics solution for fleet management. Tadano’s E-Pack, a portable 32- kW electric motor, is available as an option for quiet, emission-free work. The AC 2.040-1 is the third Tadano AC compatible with the E-Pack (the two others being the AC 3.045-1 City and the AC 4.080-1). The two-axle crane is compact and has a steerable rear axle with automatic programs for tight radii and crab steering. The AC 4.080-1’s taxi crane capabilities are enhanced by its optimised weight, enabling it to can carry up to 1.1 tonnes of counterweight while staying under an axle load limit of 12 tonnes, said Tadano. Power is provided by a
310 hp (231 kW) Cummins EU Stage V diesel engine. When fully extended the crane’s boom is 35.2 metres. At a radius of eight metres it can lift loads of up to 7.6 tonnes. The boom can also lift loads of up to 31.9 tonnes without requiring any additional sheaves. “This enables the AC 2.040-1 to
take care of a very broad range of lifts without carrying out time-consuming setup changes, making it both a fast and versatile machine,” says Dr. Frank Schröder, All Terrain Crane Product Line VP.
A nine-metre-long boom extension is available that can be offset by up to 40° The AC 2.040-1 also includes a rear storage box, which has been carried over from the Tadano ATF 40G.
