New leadership for a new era
Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS) is celebrating the milestone anniversaries
this year of its subsidiaries Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited (PNTL) and Direct Rail Services (DRS), marking 50 and 30 years respectively of leading expertise in the nuclear and transport sectors.
REFLECTING ON THE HISTORY AND industrial significance of the organisations’ achievements, NTS’s evolution over the years, and especially more recently, has seen it become a global leader and strategic adviser in all aspects of nuclear transportation. But NTS is entering a new era with a co-CEO structure. The company’s former COO, Ciara Middlehurst, and MD of Shipping and Solutions, Ben Whittard, became NTS’s co-CEOs earlier this year. Both having served within NTS for a number of years, Ciara and Ben bring a wealth of strength and experience to the shared role. Their leadership has witnessed new developments at NTS

as the organisation is tasked by the UK’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) to spearhead and shape the future of transport logistics for new HALEU fuel types. Last year NTS secured £10.5 million from the UK government to develop HALEU fuel transportation solutions – an endeavour NTS looks set to secure as market leaders in the field, as the UK government’s partner of choice. NTS’s expert team has been developing the package for some time, and its design is at the cutting edge of not only safety and security, but also compatibility, ease of manufacture, and cost-effectiveness.
