RSB LOGISTIC | ADVERTORIAL FEATURE

A dedicated shipping solution for nuclear

In a bid to address the recurring challenges of denied shipments, protracted

carrier negotiations and disruption, RSB LOGISTIC has developed a dedicated shipping service specifically tailored to the nuclear industry.

In 2017, management of RSB LOGISTIC had a pivotal realization. After years of overseeing operations and witnessing the recurring challenges of denied shipments in the nuclear industry, protracted negotiations with carriers, and disruptions caused by changes in vessel names, departure dates, and shipping terms, the team recognized the need for a more stable solution. To offer clients consistent reliability in both cost and execution, a new approach was required – one that RSB LOGISTIC would soon deliver. The roots of nuclear transport stretch back to the dawn of nuclear energy. RSB LOGISTIC Group, has been part of this journey since 1930, when it operated as a logistics division within the German energy group RWE. In 1993, the transport division was spun off and acquired by Kieserling Group. Today, RSB LOGISTIC is part of CLI AG, an international logistics, project management, and real estate company based in Hamburg, Germany. CLI AG, under the ownership of Michael Müller, acquired RSB LOGISTIC in 2013. By 2017 the decision was made to launch a dedicated shipping service tailored specifically to the nuclear industry. This included the operation of a wholly-owned vessel, managed under CLI’s primary responsibility, to ensure high standards of safety, schedule integrity, and cargo security. In 2018, the service between Valleyfield/Montreal and

Europe was inaugurated with a multi-purpose ship named CLI PRIDE. Since then, this vessel has earned a reputation for reliability, having proven that an independent operator can consistently meet or exceed the expectations of a highly regulated industry. To date, CLI PRIDE has completed over 140

transatlantic crossings, each lasting approximately 12 to 14 days under normal conditions. The vessel was selected for its unique capabilities: an ice-class hull for winter navigation on the St. Lawrence River, self- sufficient onboard cranes for port operations independent of shore equipment, and a full suite of modern communication, safety, and security systems. The service’s success has led to a new investment: CLI PRIDE II – a state-of-the-art replacement for the now 14-year-old CLI PRIDE. This next-generation vessel will deliver increased efficiency, speed, and environmental performance. Equipped with a methanol-ready engine, hybrid propulsion for short-distance zero-emission operation, a Flettner rotor sail for wind-assisted movement, and optimized cargo spaces, CLI PRIDE II represents a leap forward in sustainable logistics. The vessel will also have INF classification. The investment

in CLI Pride II is supported by long-term contracts with established industry participants. This dedicated maritime service complements the

broader transport capabilities of RSB LOGISTIC. With offices in Germany, Canada, and the United States, as well as its own transport fleet in North America, RSB LOGISTIC coordinates complex international shipments from supplier to buyer. As a global freight forwarding specialist with deep industry expertise, RSB LOGISTIC continues to offer innovative solutions for the nuclear sector – and beyond. ■
