traffickers, and/or fear of law enforcement often keep victims from seeking help, making human trafficking a hidden crime.
The effects of trafficking are horrendous,
and the lifelong impact can be debilitating, leaving its victims to struggle with shame, fear, hopelessness, disease, drug addiction, and, in the worst cases, death.
JOY International JOY International, the charity StorageGives has chosen to partner with in 2023, was started in 2008 to combat the evil of human trafficking. JOY International is dedicated to the rescue, restoration, and reintegration of children, teens, and young adults affected by trafficking, as well as the prevention of human trafficking, espe- cially the trafficking of children, world- wide. The vision of the organization is to see each captive set free from a life of slavery to experience the true joy of reaching their greatest potential in every area of life. JOY International aims for three
goals when it comes to rescuing others in trafficking situations: rescue, restoration, and prevention.
RESCUE
JOY International provides interna- tional police training, working with international governments and law enforcement units to provide special- ized training to strengthen anti-traffick- ing efforts, develop direct-action counter-trafficking teams, and provide modern equipment to their units to enable teams to be more effective with anti-trafficking efforts. Within the U.S., JOY International Special Rapid Response Team works and collabo- rates with law enforcement agencies to aid where certain service gaps may exist. Along with helping law enforce- ment, JOY International aims to supply awareness to better find cases of human trafficking, victims, and how to go ahead in these situations.
RESTORATION
JOY International also takes great care in rehabilitating those affected by human trafficking. Advocate teams work with restoration homes to boost
