District Liaisons will serve as an extension of the AZSA board, addressing regional issues while maintaining the integrity of the self-storage industry through col- laboration. As AZSA celebrated its 25th anniversary, Amy Amideo, the associa-

Amideo, who explains it will be a mentor role for the AZSA board member. Additionally, AZSA is optimistic that the program will foster future leaders for the association.

Stuf Hits LA Stuf Inc. has set up shop in Los Angeles and plans to expand in the region. The company partners with commercial real estate owners, turning vacant spaces on their properties into storage units to monetize underutilized real estate. Stuf’s first two locations in L.A. Lock Check Leads To Arrest A safety check of a unit at a Public Storage facility in Bloomington, Minn., led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Bloomington man. The suspect, who also had two warrants, was booked on suspicion of second-degree assault as well as being a felon in possession of a weapon and narcotics possession.

MCG Creates New Affiliate Madison Capital Group (MCG) has created a new affiliate to pursue what it hopes will be a lucrative extension of its self-storage business: stand-alone storage facilities exclusively for boats, RVs, and other vehicles that owners don’t want to park in their driveways. The Charlotte, N.C.-based firm has developed or purchased more than 70 self-storage facilities since its founding in 2013. It now has more than 10 deals in the pipeline to buy or build new storage complexes for boats and RVs via its recently launched BlueGate Boat and RV Storage. BlueGate announced the closing of one of those deals Nov. 22: the purchase of The Boat Rack, a 108,000-net-rentable-square-foot facility in Nashville, Tenn. The company has three other deals progressing in the Nashville market and aims to invest more than $100 million in the emerging storage subsector by the end of 2022.
