CLEAN AIR ZONE CAZ will start in May 2022 but all genuine GM-licensed vehicles were given one year extra until May 2023. But one outstanding problem is that we are still pushing for hackney WAVs to be exempt permanently.
GRANTS APPLICATION Commencing in November 2021, non-complaint WAVs will get maximum grants, (£10,000), if they want to buy fully electric black cabs (purpose-built WAV).
RETROFIT Grants will be provided according to vehicle age. As soon as this information comes to us, or to individual drivers, it will be discussed with you as to which is the best method moving forward.
COMPLIANT VEHICLES It is highly unfortunate that those who have already pur- chased compliant vehicles won’t get any sort of retrospective (backdated) grants, but directors are still working on this and will keep you updated.
DISCIPLINARY OR COURT CASES / LICENSING ACTIVITIES During the last 18 months there have been no court cases and very few are pending. I hope this is as a result of drivers working properly and not creating problems for themselves.
MR DAVID LAWRIE Since he took over as Director of the NPHTA, he is working very hard. David is a very knowledgeable person on both taxi and private hire sectors. He had excellent experience and understanding about taxi laws and local byelaws. This- can be of much help to our trade it is advantageous to our association to be affiliated with such a national organisation. When we need his expertise with disputes he is there to help. I continuously communicate with him, I’m thankful to him for the way he responds so quickly. All members must continuously support your own local association and put full weight behind your elected directors if you want to achieve anything in your favour. All of your directors are very capable, with each possessing different knowledge and skills to offer solutions to the issues members face on daily basis. You are fortunate that this association is run by such highly professional directors who are willing to help all members, any time, day or night. They stand with me shoulder to shoulder.
