We offer a complete taxi and private hire driver legal service. Our clients receive a full review of their legal circumstances, along with qualified advice from a specialist barrister. “After researching for TfL private hire solicitors I decided to use Chambers of Stephen McCaffrey and Catherine Stock, Kings View Chambers and I’m glad I did. McCaffrey and his team are very helpful, and know their way around the subject, have a wealth of experience and deliver results with as little stress as possible, which is what you need in such situations. I am so pleased I found Stephen McCaffrey, without his expertise and persistence I would not have had a successful outcome to my claim. He kept me informed every step of the way, not once did I have to chase him for information. I have no hesitation in recom- mending them and have often done so.

five things to ConsiDer when Buying a taxi

Stephen Porter, General Manager of The Taxi Centre, believes there are five considerations in buying a taxi. 1. Comfort, and that’s not just for your passengers. As a taxi driver you will probably spend more time in your vehicle than in your bed so it’s vital that you are comfortable when driving. Everyone is different and there’s no ‘one size fits all’; don’t be fooled into think- ing that the more expensive the car is the more comfortable it is. That’s not always true.

2. Boot space. Don’t think that the bigger the boot the better. Anything over around 550 litres offers little additional benefit. If you can fit four people and their luggage into the boot, then it is adequate for a taxi business.

3. Cost. Talk to the experts (us) and work out the overall cost of the vehicle over the length of time you plan to use it. Don’t make a decision based on price or fuel consumption on their own, decide based on the total ownership costs. It might surprise you – what at first seems like a good price might end up costing you more over three or four years.

4. New or used? At the Taxi Centre the cost of a new car is very often less than the price of a used car at a general dealership. We only deal with taxis/ph, meaning we know what’s needed and can give the very best advice on your next taxi.

5. Reliability. A taxi will do tens of thousands of miles a year, which means things may go wrong, which can be a significant cost. The cost, but most importantly the availability, of spares is a big consideration. A taxi off the road is a taxi not earning money.

So, it’s Friday night, busy with lots of people leav- ing pubs, restaurants, clubs and bars. Many of these will need a ride to their next venue, train sta- tion, hotel or home – these are your punters. Picture the situation, these people have had a great evening and are just about to leave the club

or venue they’ve been to – potentially away from their normal stomping ground - and now want to get a cab. So, what do you want them to do? Try and launch an App on their phone and order a ride that way or wander down to the taxi rank and get a ride there, or call your taxi firm because they know the number?
